Acid Stain

Acid Staining is the most durable and safest technique to go for coloured concrete installation. It's a technique that uses an acid solution to etch away any exposed aggregate or sand from your already finished slab of concrete, leaving only the colour you choose behind. Unlike staining, this produces uniform colour everywhere in your pavement, which leaves darker and lighter areas. Acid staining concrete also has the advantage of being completely compatible with coloured, stamped, exposed aggregate or polished concrete surfaces.

Staining

Acrylic dyes used in concrete staining are excellent for lighter-toned stains, whether staining concrete or epoxy. It's not as opaque as acetone dye, but it will still work if your concrete is very light in colour (white or grey).

Acetone Dyes

Acetone Dyes are solvent-based concrete dyes that will penetrate the surface of your concrete and bind with it. They are opaque, meaning they appear as a coloured pigment but fade over time, allowing whatever substrate you have beneath to show through, giving your floor an antique style like terrazzo or marble floors. This is ideal if you want to preserve the current colour of your concrete while giving it a pop of colour, or you wish to use a colour that's not available in our concrete water-based dyes.

Water Based Dyes

Water-based dyes are the most durable. Acrylic dyes that work best on light or white concrete may also be used on other materials. They aren't suggested for fine-grained concrete since they might leak a bit. Water-based dyes will not flake off your concrete!
